The Room is Listening

The lamp hums. Her plants lean in. The shadows stop dancing atop the walls and pause. To listen. She plays like no one’s watching, yet somehow everything is. A moment held in the hush of orange light.

These quicker paintings are always really fun to paint. I find them intuitive, I can play a lot with them. They bring me great joy and I delight in their immediacy.

It is only when I get further into the painting process that I tend to encounter problems (and lots of them).
