Not a moment captured, but a moment approaching. The gesture is softer, looser. The pull is the same - forward, inward, toward.

This was the initial sketch for Threshold. Often, when I create studies, the larger versions based on them are quite different. I want every painting to breathe its own life, to have its own story. I’m not a massive fan of creating carbon copies of things. I’ll leave that to the machines. They have to be different. It’s necessary. For me and the painting.
